Be the Best Dressed at the Next Semi Formal Wedding

Soooooo, I'm sure you've noticed something just a wee bit different about this particular post.  Yup! You guessed it.  I got highlights!  You like???  I kid, I kid! Who's this hunky looking stud in pics with me???  This is Shanon.  Shanon is not only gorgeous, he's also a MAJOR smarty pants petroleum engineer.  H-E-L-L-O! Shanon has graciously agreed to lend me his beautiful smile for a post or two.

Fingers crossed, we can extend the engagement.  Which brings me to . . .  (Read More After the Jump)

Is it just me or is everyone either getting married or having a baby?  I'm seriously convinced there's definitely something in the water.  Tis the season for weddings.  Tis the season for wedding invitations.  And tis the season for deciphering wedding dress codes.  Here's our take . . .

Semi Formal, Dressy Casual or Festive? WTH?

Semi Formal or Dressy Casual:

Basics:  let the time of day the wedding takes place determine your dress and color choice.  Day wedding equals lighter colors and evening wedding equals darker colors.

Men:  Suit and tie.  No tux needed.

Ladies:  Cocktail dress

Festive:

*As if wedding dress codes weren't already confusing enough?!  Now we have "Festive"

Basics:  What in the _____ is Festive????  When I see or hear the word "festive", I instantly think costume.  And I looooooves me a good costume party!  But this definitely is not the same "festive."  Festive attire simply means, just jazz it up a bit.  Have some fun with your look.  Think semi-formal on the next level.

Men:  Suit and tie with a bold color tie or fun shoes.

Ladies:  Cocktail dress with bold and fun accessories.

About Our Look:

Shanon and I put our own little twist on wedding attire by opting for the more "Festive" look.  Black and white gets an upgrade.  Shanon got all "festive" with his look by opting for designer sneakers instead of stuffy dress shoes and he ixnayed the ietay (Pig Latin to English Translation:  Nixed the tie) to add a little more fun to his look.  I jazzed up my dress by adding super fun and bright drop earrings and shoes in hot pink along with a bright yellow clutch.
